DeNA acquires Astro Ape

Japanese mobile Social Gaming behemoth DeNA gobbles up game developer Astro Ape. Articles and analysis from:

Forbes ” In the past 12 months alone, DeNA has acquired or invested in four U.S. companies (including Astro Ape) in social and mobile gaming. Last week, it bought GameView Studios, developer of top-ranked iPhone social games like Tap Ranch and Tap Fish: Exotic.”

Gamasutra ” Based in Edison, New Jersey and founded in March 2009, Astro Ape primarily develops for iDevices.”

Inside Social Games ” The larger plan for DeNA Global (the American subsidiary) is to create a new platform, MiniNation, as well as find content to take back to its successful Japanese mobile social network, Mobage Town.”

VentureBeat ” Astro Ape was  founded by Christopher Cheung, Chieh Huang, and William Fong in March, 2009. The studio has five employees and is adding a couple more in the next two weeks. The company is self-funded.”
